Tongan Fatima, long wanted since 2006 for his alleged involvement in the series of bombings in Southwestern Mindanao (Region 12) was nabbed in a remote village in Libungan town in North Cotabato.
Supt. Joel Limson, chief of the Tacurong City PNP, led the manhunt.
Tongan, according to reports from the intelligence community, masterminded the bombing in Tacurong City sometime October in 2006.
He was also tagged as one of the financiers of the Al Khobar.
Badrudin Guiasilon, an Al Khobar member arrested sometime August last year, said in his extra-judicial confession that it was Tongan who paid him after each bombing activity.
Tongan was also mentioned in the testimony made by Musali Calo, believed to be the number three man in the Al Khobar who was arrested last February 21, as the financier. Tongan was captured a week after Calo’s arrest.
Tongan was turned over today to regional Chief Supt. Felizardo Serapio, director fo the Philippine National Police regional office in General Santos City. (MindaNews)
