Arrested on April 30 at 5:30 pm were Leonides Mata, a.k.a, Jigger, a team leader and Narciso Maunis Jr, a.k.a, Johnny both belonging to the Front committee 4 of the North Central Mindanao Regional Party Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
The arresting team, composed of members of the Army's 30th Infantry Battalion, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the intelligence group of the police regional office, cornered the suspects who were allegedly extorting some people in a remote area in crossing Cementery , Barangay Bancasi, this city.
Army Lt. Col. Leonel santos, commander of the 30th IB, said residents reported that two armed men suspected to be NPAs were roaming in their village. He said they confiscated from the suspects an M-16 rifle, mobile phone, undetermined number of 7.62 mm ammunitions, personal belongings and subversive documents with alleged high intelligence value.
