The recovery came five days after police arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves in Sultan Kudarat province, according to Supt. Joel Limson, chief of Tacurong City PNP.
Limson said they recovered the XRM 110 motorcycles from Teodolfo Cabaobao, a businessman from Purok Paraiso, Barangay Lamian in Surallah, South Cotabato.
The recovered vehicles, according to Limson, were among the six Honda XRM motorcycles that Bansil and his group had stolen from 2007 until 2008 inside the public markets of Nurallah and Surallah towns.
Police said one of the recovered motorcycles was issued to Manuelito Balayon of Poblacion in Nurallah, South Cotabato.
Cabaobao was identified by Alex Bansil and Dondo Saligan, both suspected motorcycle thieves the police arrested last Friday in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat.
The suspects told police they sold the stolen motorcycles to Cabaobao at P20,000 each.
Bansil and Saligan are detained at the Provincial Jail in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
Limson said they have yet to file charges of violation of Presidential Decree 1612 or the Anti-fencing Law of 1979 against Cabaobao for acquiring the alleged stolen items.
Cabaobao is now at the custody of the Surallah PNP, according to police.
The operation against stolen motorcycles was conducted jointly by the Tacurong City PNP, Regional Intelligence Division and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Mindanao. (Malu Cadelina Manar / MindaNews)
