Insp. Elias Dandan, chief of Pikit police, identified the suspected accomplice as Bianca Montawal, niece of the alleged primary suspect identified as Datu Andy Montawal, municipal councilor and son of the mayor of Datu Montawal town in Maguindanao.
Dandan said his men spotted Bianca in a store inside the public market in Pikit, around 2 p.m. on Monday.
Bianca did not resist arrest when collared by his men, the police official said.
They immediately turned her over to the Provincial Rehabilitation Center at the Amas Complex here.
Bianca is one of three persons accused of raping Angelie, not her real name and a 1st year student at the College of Human Ecology and Food Science of the University of Southern Mindanao on February 22, 2008.
Angelie said Bianca took her from her boarding house on February 25 and brought her to another one located along the university belt in Kabacan town, where Datu Andy was waiting.
Police are still looking for Datu Andy and the third suspect named Jerome, who also belongs to the Montawal clan.
The three went into hiding when the warrants for their arrest came out sometime July last year, reports said. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
