The victims have not been identified as of press time, police said. But SPO2 Teng Dimapalao, of Carmen Police, said the victims were riding a Honda motorcycle on their way home when fired upon with high-powered guns in Barangay Ugalingan.
Police said the victims sustained severe wounds on their heads and other parts of their bodies. They were rushed to a hospital in nearby Kabacan town, then later transferred to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center in Cotabato City for further medical treatment.
Police said it could be due to a clan feud, or what is known as “rido.” Dimapalao said the ambush could be linked to a recent killing also in Ugalingan where the victim was identified only by surname, Rebando. (Malu Cadeliña Manar / MindaNews)
