But the urine samples are still to be brought to a laboratory in General Santos City and may take days for results to be available, PDEA agents told MindaNews.
Gov. Jesus Sacdalan and Vice Gov. Emanuel Piñol, along with 13 board members, were the first to undergo the random drug testing held at the vice governor’s office. Senior Supt. Lester Camba, provincial police director, likewise submitted himself for testing. He promised the governor that all Philippine National Police personnel in the province will undergo the same testing, too. Sacdalan made the announcement following his delivery of the state of the province address (SOPA) attended by various local officials, non-government organizations, people’s organizations and employees of national line agencies.
“Let us set an example to our constituents. It is proper for us elected officials not to be involved in using illegal drugs to show to our people our desire in serving them better,” said Piñol, who was tasked by the governor to lead the campaign against illegal drugs in the province.
All provincial government employees, upon Piñol’s suggestion, are expected to undergo the drug test. (MindaNews)
