Vote wisely, Church urges parishioners

Fr. Rey Salvador issued his appeal in front of some 300 parishioners attending
the novena mass at the Our Lady Mediatrix of All Grace cathedral on Wednesday.

He appealed to them to vote wisely and choose the candidates who would really
care for the poor, the oppressed and the neglected.

“Please don’t make a wrong choice. Vote the candidates you think are capable
to handle the position and could address the basic needs of our people,” he said.

Fr. Salvador also urged the parishioners of Kidapawan not to accept money from
politicians in exchange for their votes in the May 14 elections.

“Our votes are sacred so please don’t exchange it with kilos of rice and
meager amount of money,” he said.

He also asked urged everyone to be vigilant in order to ensure Honest, Orderly
and Peaceful Election (HOPE).

In M’lang town, the Santa Teresita parish sponsored a candidate’s forum and
peace covenant signing among all local politicians vying for various positions
last week.

Teresita Napat, chair of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting
(PPCRV) said the candidate’s forum will serve as venue for the politicians to
explain their platforms of government.

The candidates signed a peace covenant to ensure credible, honest and peaceful
elections.

The Santo Nino parish in President Roxas will also sponsor a candidate’s forum
to be held at the town’s gymnasium on May 8. (Williamor A. Magbanua/MindaNews)
