Kabacan cop admits he’s into drugs

KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/19 January) – Even before an actual drug test could be done on him, a policeman in Kabacan, North Cotabato reportedly admitted he had been using drugs, the provincial police office said.
But police provincial director Senior Supt. Norberto Batislaong refused to identify the policeman, addng an actual test is needed before criminal and administrative cases could be filed.

Batislaong the policeman directly admitted to him.

The police official said they conducted the test to cleanse the Kabacan police of members who are drug users.

In Kidapawan City, three police officers were found positive of drugs in a test conducted in December 2009.

Batislaong said he received reports drug trafficking in Kabacan and Kidapawan has become rampant because of the alleged involvement of some police officers.

Kabacan is also considered the ‘dropping point’ of drugs coming from different areas in Mindanao, reports said.

The drug enforcers in Region 12 reported in 2009 that syndicates in Kabacan were using minors in selling drugs.

They even called these minors as members of the “Alamang Boys” and most of them are residents of Purok Crislam, said to be a haven of drug users and pushers in the province.

Drug enforcers put Kabacan on top of the list in terms of drug abuse. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
