Grenade lobbed in Pikit mosque; 1 killed, 5 injured; Army says not election-related

COTABATO CITY (MindaNews/09 May) – A grenade was lobbed at the mosque in  Barangay Batulawan, Pikit, North Cotabato at around 6:30 p.m. on May 9 while people were praying, killing instantly one person and injuring five others, three of them religious leaders.

A report reaching the Eastern Mindanao Command post in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, identified the slain person as Tautin Manawil, 42.

Injured were  Imam Sangkay Sindatuk,56 , Ustadz Norodin Hamsa, 45; Ustdz untol Abdulakrif, 48; Kiszon Palalisan, 63 and Ibrahim Marasigan, 65.

The victims were rushed to the Cruzado Medical hospital. Investigators are looking into personal grudge as the motive behind the bombing.

But Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, spokesperson of the  Eastern Mindanao Command, said  the bombing was not election-related. (MindaNews)
