PAGADIAN CITY (MindaNews/10 September) – The former mayor of Tugaya town in Lanao del Sur and three of his companions were killed in an ambush early Friday morning on their way to attend the celebration of Eid’l Fitr, the feast marking the end of the Muslims’ holy month of Ramadan, reports said.
Alimatar Guro Alim died immediately when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his maroon Pajero in Barangay Dilambayan in Tugaya.
Colonel Jed Motus, commander of the 65th Infantry Battalion Philippine said Alim’s companions were rushed to Amaipakpak Medical Center in Marawi City but were declared dead on arrival.
Derogongan said Alim’s family immediately buried him in Tugaya.
The Army and police immediately deployed personnel to the town as authorities moved to prevent a “rido” or clan war from breaking out in the wake of the ambush. (MindaNews)
