Cotabato City kidnap victim freed in Maguindanao

KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/16 October) — Kidnappers freed Friday dawn 73-year hardware trader Conchita Tan of Cotabato City in a marshy area in Maguindanao.

Tan, owner of the LCT Hardware in Cotabato, was immediately flown to Manila via Cebu Pacific for medical treatment, at around 12 noon today, said Col. Ernesto Aradanas, chief of the 603rd Infantry Brigade and head of Task Force Conchita.

Tan was freed a week after she was abducted by still unidentified kidnap-for-ransom gang in a busy street in Cotabato City.

A considerable sum of money was reportedly given by Tan’s family in exchange for her release.

Aradanas said he does not know how much was paid. The family of Tan has not issued any press statement.

Tan was abducted on Friday afternoon while on board her vehicle along Quezon Avenue, also in Cotabato City.  The suspects shot dead Tan’s family driver and bodyguard. (Malu Cadelina-Manar/Mindanews)
