ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/10 January) — An official of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was gunned down at the lobby of a hotel here at around 7 a.m. Monday but following a city-wide radio alert, police nabbed five suspects, including a policeman.
Killed was Abdulhamin Bandahala, a resident of Indanan, Sulu and the liaison assistant of the LTO in the ARMM.
Chief Inspector Felixberto Martinez, Police Station 7 commander, said he immediately radioed all police units to be on the lookout for a getaway vehicle.
Bandahala, 44, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and expired at the lobby of Azenith Royale Hotel along Gov. Camins Avenue.
Martinez said the suspects, on board a Toyota-FX vehicle, were cornered along Corcuera Street near the port of Zamboanga by the personnel of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company less than an hour after he radioed the police units.
He said initial investigation showed that prior to the incident, the victim was seen talking with the suspects at the hotel lobby.
He said one of the suspects pulled a handgun and shot Bandahala in the midst of a fistfight that ensued between the victim and the suspects. (MindaNews)
