ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/09 June) – Two of the three kidnap victims were freed an hour after gunmen abducted them Wednesday in Lanao del Norte, a military official disclosed Thursday.
Freed were engineer Boyet Alumbro and Edgar Gomez who along with another companion identified as Alexander Lim were abducted around 9 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Samboron, Linamon town.
Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) spokesperson said the three were traveling aboard a Toyota Fortuner from Ozamis City to Cagayan de Oro City when flagged down by gunmen wearing t-shirts printed with the word “police” in Samboron, Linamon municipality.
The gunmen commandeered the victim’s vehicle and sped towards the direction of Lanao del Sur, Cabangbang said.
But the Army official said the gunmen freed Alumbro around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in front of the Baloi Elementary School in Baloi, Lanao del Norte.
They also released Gomez 15 minutes later in Barangay Salip Alawi, Baloi and kept Lim as their captive, Cabangbang said.
He said no one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and the whereabouts of Lim has remained unknown. (MindaNews)
