MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews / 7 May) – The provincial chair of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has clarified that the pollwatch body would conduct a parallel manual tally only in the votes cast for national positions.
“No, the local votes won’t be counted,” said Fr. Virgilio Delfin.
Delfin said the PPCRV would conduct its parallel tally based on the fourth copy of the election returns printed by the PCOS machines.
After receiving the fourth copies of the election returns, the local member of the PPCRV would then report the national votes to its main office in Manila. The unofficial tally of the votes cast for president, vice president and senators and party-list groups would be released four days after the elections.
PPCRV is the sole accredited citizen’s arm authorized by the Comelec to conduct an unofficial count.
Based on RA 9369, among the recipients of the 30 ERs are municipal and provincial board of canvassers, the accredited citizen’s arm, dominant majority and minority parties, ten accredited major national parties, two accredited major, three broadcast and print media entities, local parties, national and local parties, and media entities and other major citizens arm.
