Emano, a third termer, also ordered the reshuffling of 11 senior city officials to improve the delivery of basic services to the residents, according to a press statement released by the city information office.
Affected by the revamp are the City Administrator’s Office, City Engineers Office, City Environment Office, Public Terminals and Markets Administration Office and the City General Services Office.
The City Council also approved Emano’s proposal to maximize tax collection, implementation of land market valuation and for the reduction of operating costs of the City Government.
Emano earlier proposed on spending a budget of P1.2 billion for the 2007 operations. Thirty percent will be allotted to general public services; 22 percent for economic services; 14 percent for social security, services and welfare; 14 percent for health; five percent for calamity fund and three percent for barangay aid.
The local opposition had earlier accused Emano of not being transparent in the multimillion projects for the construction of Tibasak-Lumbia bridge, SM-to-Bulua road, and the West Bus Terminal.
Lawyer Manuel Ravanera, a leading opposition member, said the construction binge made by Emano has depleted the financial resources of the local government.
“Emano will leave the city government in shock for many years to come,” Ravanera said.
Emano has always maintained that the allegations of corruption made by the local opposition are baseless and part of a political campaign to destroy his image. (MindaNews)
