Mayor Rodolfo Gantuangco urged members of the Committee on Finance of the Sangguniang Panglungsod to prepare the supplemental budget for the implementation of the wage increase. The city needs some P3.5 million to implement the pay hike mandated by the Department of Budget and Management.
The DBM order stated that all government units should implement this year the 10%-across-the-board wage increase.
Gantuangco urged City Hall employees to improve their services to their clients. “You are the highest paid employees in North Cotabato, thus, it is expected that you give the best services to our people,” he told the employees.
Gantuangco is also keen on renewing the appointments of many job order (JO) workers, despite the meager budget.
He also urged the SP's finance committee to come up with the needed budget for the re-appointment of the JO workers.
Despite the impending effects of next year's decrease in the internal revenue allotment (IRA) due to the conversion of 12 towns into new component cities, Gantuangco said he is determined to minimize its possible results in the daily operations of the city government.
About P38 million will be sliced from the IRA share of the city government as a result of the conversion. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
