Teng Garcia, Sultan Kudarat's political affairs assistant for information and special concerns, said the projects are part of the infrastructure development package covered by the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allocation of first district Rep. Datu Pax Mangudadatu.
"These are basic infrastructure projects that will mainly benefit various local communities that are covered (by the first congressional district)," he said in a radio interview.
Sultan Kudarat's first district covers the municipalities of Isulan, Lutayan, Lambayong, President Quirino, Columbio and Tacurong City.
Initially, Garcia said they expect the construction and improvement of the municipal gymnasiums within the district to begin by next month.
He said under Mangudadatu's PDAF, at least P10 million will initially be released for the project. An additional P5 million will be released later this year.
During the first half of the year, Garcia said the congressional office and the Department of Education will also launch the construction of at least seven school buildings worth P4 million in various parts of the district.
He said another 10 to 15 school buildings, with a funding of P6.7 million, will also be constructed later this year in Isulan town.
Garcia said the bulk of the congressional district's infrastructure development allocation will go to the concreting later this of the national road from Lambayong Poblacion to barangay Pinguiaman, which is near the boundary of the neighboring Sultan sa Barongis town of Maguindanao.
