Some P1.5 million has been allotted by the city government for the procurement of five personal computers, three servers, two scanners and development of a software for the “Legislative Tracking and Performance Monitoring Project.” Rosalinda L. Mondido, Legislative Staff Officer IV of the Sangguniang Panlunsod, said that the project would “ease retrieval of resolutions and ordinances” with just a few strokes on the keyboard.
“When the system is ready,” Mondido explained, “we will encode all the resolutions and ordinances, so we can have those immediately when needed.” She said that they could easily monitor how many resolutions and ordinances each city councilor has proposed, and if they are eventually passed. “Thus, we can assess the performance of our elected city officials,” she pointed out. “With the system, we would also immediately know the resolutions belonging to infrastructure, social services or whatever classifications such belong,” she explained. Mondido related that a memorandum of agreement was signed on Tuesday between the Bureau of Local Government Development, Department of Interior and Local Government Region 12 (represented by Regional Director Buagas B. Sulaik) and the city government of General Santos (represented by Mayor Pedro B. Acharon Jr.) for the undertaking of the project. The legislative staff officer concluded that the computer-based administrative system would enhance the administrative, technical and fiscal abilities of the local government to effectively provide quality service to its constituents.
