Sacdalan, however, is not heeding the advice of Pinol, who was his governor for the three terms that he was vice governor.
Pinol has claimed that Pieldad has “lost his moral ascendancy” because while he is strict with others, he allowed the alleged “advance” delivery of a Nissan X-trail vehicle to him even without an approved purchase order or purchase receipt.
The law restricts advance delivery of government supplies as stated in Republic Act 9184 or the Government Procurement and Reform Act.
Pieldad told the Sangguniang Panlalawigan session on March 26 that the car dealer from Davao City “took the risk” when he delivered the Nissan X-trail on February 27 without the necessary papers.
But Pieldad in a radio interview last Wednesday, April 2, denied the government bought the car for him.
“Pieldad told the many listeners that the vehicle was owned by the son of the governor, which was completely different from what he said during the session,” Pinol said adding the provincial administrator “has lied under oath.”
Pinol, in a letter addressed to Sacdalan, said that Pieldad “does not deserve to be part of the team running the provincial government.”
Pinol claims he and Sacdalan belong to a team that is making sure “everything in the government is running smoothly.”
Pinol said he respects Sacdalan’s decision to keep Pieldad but appealed to him to “heed my advice so as to maintain the respectability of the institution where we belong.”
He said his being critical of Pieldad “is aimed at correcting what I perceived were questionable judgments in running the government.”
“Maybe the SP (Sangguniang Panlalawigan) and Pieldad just have some misunderstandings. This is just a simple issue that must be resolved between and among them,” Sacdalan said.
Sacdalan said that he personally chose Pieldad to run the provincial government because of his “exceptional” management skills.
“I wanted the government to be run properly and smoothly by people like Pieldad,” he said.
Before his appointment as provincial administrator, Pieldad was executive officer of a non-government organization based in Midsayap, North Cotabato. (MindaNews)
