ILIGAN CITY (MindaNews/6 July) — Lanao del Norte Governor Khalid Dimaporo vowed to focus on rural infrastructure and sustainable agriculture in the first 100 days of his second term.
Dimaporo said that he wanted to improve agriculture and make it his legacy under his administration by providing inputs and post harvest
facilities for rice and corn producers.
This he professed in a provincial radio program on Balitang Panlalawigan at DXLS.
He also said that he is looking into the need to craft additional agricultural plan that will also tackle on harnessing the coconut
industry.
Lanao del Norte is primarily an agriculture-based community and among the poorest provinces of the country with lack of opportunities for
its increasing population.
Last month, the municipal agriculture officers of the province covering 22 towns underwent trainings on appropriately responding to
climate change and on disaster risk reduction for the El Niño and La Niña phenomena.
Dimaporo said he is proud to have increased the number of hospitals in Lanao del Norte, from three to five functional institutions during his
first term of office, with improved medical facilities.
He also said that the distributed health care support for indigents in the province has reached an exceptional degree. (Violeta M. Gloria /
