DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/4 March) – President Benigno Aquino III has appointed former Camiguin Gov. Antonieto Gallardo to head the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office to lobby for the administration’s priority bills in both houses of Congress.
The President appointed Gallardo last week but he personally inducted the former governor last Monday in Malacañang. The post carries the title of Undersecretary.
The office has a budget of P22 million and was formed by then President Corazon Aquino in 1987.
Its main task is lobbying for the passage of bills deemed important by the President. It also maintains close liaison with Congress.
Among the past heads of office were Gabriel “Gabby” Claudio, Norberto Gonzales and Ronaldo Puno. (MindaNews)
