MORO IN EXILE: Open Letter to Angeline Jolie

Dear Angelina,

I am writing as one of your fans. I do admire your work, your on-screen work but more so your sincere contribution to highlight humanitarian issues.

But please, when you do attend and speak at international humanitarian conferences, can you please remind other participants to be as equally excited about the conference and focus on it and not just on you?

We were kind of hoping that our friends would let us know how the particular problems of SGBV (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence) survivors in Mindanao were discussed in that summit on war-time sexual violence or how the experience and approaches in other countries may be relevant to Mindanao or what new tools or approaches have emerged to prevent and address sexual violence. Instead, what we have been getting are selfies of them with you, or pictures of you on the stage, or posts about how gorgeous you are. Well, you ARE gorgeous. But that is beside the point.

While I am at it, can you also tell the rich donors to spend more money on actual rescue and rehabilitation efforts (psycho-social, medical, legal assistance) to women and other victims of war and less on expensive international summits?

Anyway, this is just a small suggestion from a fan. I hope you continue to be successful in your work, especially the one off-camera.

Zen

P.S. Oh, next time, can you also tell your husband, Brad, not to come to these conferences. I like the dude but he kinda makes it worse. By the way, when are you guys going to make a remake of Mr. and Mrs. Smith?
