Salaam and Good morning to all!

As we witness today’s official hand over of the leadership of the new Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, let me emphasize the significance of unity in diversity.

Just like a rainbow, it is composed of different hues. Each color is uniquely beautiful and has a special purpose. It is reflective of the various tribes and beliefs that co-exist in the Bangsamoro homeland. But we can only maximize its beauty and power if we work harmoniously and collectively.

Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity Carlito Galvez, Jr. calls on leaders of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, the body that will govern the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao until June 30, 2022 to “put personal interest behind and work for the common good of the Bangsamoro People” during the turnover rites from ARMM to BARMM at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in Cotabato City on February 26, 2019. There is daunting task ahead as we lay down the foundations of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Within the six-month period, the members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, under the leadership of chairman Murad Ebrahim — the interim Chief Minister — are expected to execute and pass crucial legislations. These include the Electoral, Local Government, Education, Administrative, Revenue and Civil Service Codes. This is no business as usual as we continue the reform and instill good governance in the Bangsamoro.

The challenge here for us is to build on the tremendous gains that Governor Mujiv Hataman has made in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

In 2017, ARMM’s gross regional domestic product is one of fastest in the country with 12. 1 percent. This economic performance reached a significant height despite the challenges brought about by the conflict in Marawi City. With a favorable economic climate, its employment rate also surges with 97.4 percent last year, giving the need jobs and opportunities to the people in the Bangsamoro homeland.

Let’s give a round of applause to the sterling leadership of the Governor Mujiv Hataman. This is your legacy as you bow down from your post today. As we roll our sleeves in the coming days, I know that the BTA members are ready for the challenges ahead.

I’ll be frank, the transition process is difficult. But there is no challenges that we cannot surmount if we all work together as a team. We should put personal interest behind and work for the common good of the Bangsamoro People.

From individual to organizational, let’s transcend it to societal change in our desire for peace, progress and prosperity. The bottomline here is to bring good governance through clean governmental transaction.

This will show our sincerity to provide the needed services that the people in the Bangsamoro truly deserved. With the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Moro National Liberation Front who we cannot question the sincerity, dedication and commitment in pushing for the realization of the Bangsamoro aspirations, plus the array of experts representing different sectors in the BTA, we are confident that we can achieve what we are set out to do.

In parallel, the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), along with our international peace partners, will now embark in the implementation of the normalization process, where former combatants and their communities will be transformed into productive members of the society.

Like a rainbow, we stay together as bridge to the pot of gold, of peace and devt, waiting at its end. Maraming salamat at mabuhay tayong lahat!
