TURNING POINT: Jesus Lost the Election

NAAWAN, Misamis Oriental (MindaNews/17 April) – And it came to pass that the people were presented to choose between Barabbas, and Jesus. The crowd by a viva voce vote chose a notorious bandit and murderer over a renowned teacher. Barabbas won and was freed; Jesus lost, got a death sentence.

Barabbas was the candidate of the highest authorities of the Jews led by the high priest. The Jewish elite wanted to get rid of Jesus because his teaching had threatened if not undermined their authority. With their highly oiled political machinery and resources, Jesus easily lost to them the multitude of  supporters and admirers who, just four days earlier welcomed him to Jerusalem in tumultuous adoration and joy. Abandoned by his 12 cowardly campaign managers and subjected to various enticements by the opponents, his following jumped ship and one by one disappeared. Jesus, also known as Christ, was overwhelmingly defeated. He was mocked, tortured and killed.

Shall we allow a similar story to happen in next month’s midterm elections of 2019, where candidates of principle and with clear vision to save the country lose to modern-day bandits – to the plunderers, to stooges and to shoddy puppets on the string?

God forbid, who will put an end to the bottomless greed of communist China and its nefarious ally along the Pasig?
