Ago maregen sa ginawa uba ko reka mabimban
Na kayko kasirayatan ka a ginawa ko
Inged a pisimalaw na miya alin so pikir
Ka diko marao ribonen ka bantogan ka ko
Miyakambelabela a sinar ko pagilidan

Ugaid na tanto a pakaranon a sumiyagad so masa
Miya sagogoy so tao sa sedepan ko Ranao
Isa-isa so lagam ko dii kapaka kheno
Kagiya ko siranoto a khebaya mangondato
A ipaar so parinta a andang a kalalayaman

Na kayko magiyoto na miniparak so tindeg
Mala lumiyabeto so sagorompong a inged
Inao inged a pisimalaw
Kayko kapanagedan ka so maripedes ko alongan
Anda so mga datu?
Ino mangaday piyagiroy ka iran ko andang ka a bhetad?
O antawa ka pisambi ka iran ko sakamayto a pirak?
Linipatan so tindeg ago so maratabat ko inged
Tiyawarang so kadenden ka tiyomo
so doniya ko kabaya a ginawa

Sa kiyagiyanan niyan na diko karaw mamikir
so andang a kiyalayaman
Singanin o madakel na obo sebang so alongan
ko andang a kalalayamiron
Na mitoron so pagtaw a gopen phesalimbago
A ikaranon so inged
Sa aya kaonotan ko kapaka-shalimbetad

Soraya presented this piece at the ‘Meranao Spoken Word Festival’ held at the American Corner of the University Library, MSU main campus in Marawi City on 23 May 2019, to commemorate the second anniversary of Day 1 of the Marawi Siege. The Festival’s theme was “Reflect, Recreate, Reclaim.” President Rodrigo Duterte declared the country’s lone Islamic City “liberated from the terrorist influence” on 17 October 2017. ‘Meranao Spoken Word Festival’ is the first of a series of Spoken Word events initiated by the Iranon Gumilang as a Meranaw Cultural Heritage project in partnership with American Corner Marawi and English Majors’ Society)
