40th Day

Iliganons flock to the Mandulog River on 25 January 2012 to commemorate the 40th day since the killer floods brought about by Typhoon Sendong wiped out villages and killed 700 people while around 500 still missing. In the Catholic tradition, the 40th day is believed to be the day when the deceased ascends into heaven. MindaNews photo by Bobby Timonera
