Sultan Kudarat sends 20 pax to 2008 Nat’l Schools PRess Con

NSPC is the yearly biggest academic event of the DepEd , wherein, some 3, 500 campus journalists, school paper coaches, advisers and DepEd officials from the different schools nationwide converged in Koronadal City, Division of South Cotabato, Region XII to participate in this year’s conduct of said national academic event.

With the theme: “Promoting Consumers’ Right through Campus Journalism,” the said gathering aims to improve consumer awareness through campus journalism, enrich student journalistic experience, and enhance journalism competencies among student writers, which are also the essence of responsible journalism.

Campus writers are battling to be named the best writer and radio broadcaster in the field.

The categories for the elementary and high school group contest are: Editorial Page, Feature/Literary Page, News Page, Sports Page, and Lay-out Design for English and Filipino.

For the individual writing contest, the categories in English and Filipino for both elementary and secondary levels are: Photojournalism, Copy Reading and Headline Writing, Editorial, News, Features, Sports Writing, and Editorial Cartooning.

Aside from these, the DepEd also bared that starting this year, TV broadcasting, a new group contest will now be included as one of the events to compete for among campus writers’ participants.

The week-long contest that started Monday, February 18 and will run until February 23, coincides with the host province’s Kawayan Festival, an annual celebration held every February that displays South Cotabato’s popular bamboo arts and crafts.

On the other hand, South Cotabato Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Allan G. Farnazo said recently that the host province is in constant coordination with other government line agencies, the business sector and concerned stakeholders to ensure the accessibility of services and other needs of participating guests.
