The training is initiated by the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines as a partner in a project called the Human Rights Reporting Project in the Philippines.
Officials and members of NUJP and its partner, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), will present for the one day event the way Davao media reported the cases of extrajudicial killings in the region.
The training will be held at the Brokenshire Resort & Convention Center at the Madapo Hills, Davao City. It is part of the five module project on a series of workshops for journalists to build their skills and knowledge in covering and reporting on human rights-related issues.
One module focuses on poverty and human rights and has been conducted in different parts of the country.
The NUJP said the training is significant as the media, being the major source of information of the public, plays an important role in clarifying human rights issues. (NUJP-Davao)
