3rd Padyak para kay Boyd cycling fundraising set for December 15

DAVAO CITY — It’s all systems go for the 3rd Gene Boyd R. Lumawag Cycling Fundraising event (Padyak Para Kay Boyd Para sa Burn Center 3) on December 15, 2013 Sunday starting from People’s Park to Sun City Diversion Road and back to People’s Park.

05padyak Eleven indigent patients admitted in the Mindanao Burn Center of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) benefitted from last year’s cycling event. The fundraising event was able to raise P25,221.75 from cyclists and sponsors.

This year’s event will consist of a total of 30 kilometers ride in major roads of Davao starting from People’s Park, with category short track races inside Sun City Davao.

Categories for this event are Fun Ride A, Fun Ride B, Juniors, Seniors, Veterans, Masters, Fat Boys, Ladies and Golden Boys.

Registration fee is P350 with free souvenir cycling jersey, lunch, certificate and raffle. The event is presented by MindaNews and supported by the Federation of Off-Road Cycling Enthusiasts (FORCE) headed by former Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Dominic Carpio, RaceLink Davao head Rafael Cruzada, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Jail Officers on Bike (BJMP-JOB), Davao All-Terrain Bikers Association (DATBA) headed by Ed Leuenberger Jr., Davao Pobre Bikers Association (Dapoba), Sun City United Bikers Association(SCUBA), Association of Athletic Individuals (ASAI) and Cycle for Life (CFL) Davao.

“Same as last year, the proceeds from the cycling event will be used to buy medicines, burn ointments, antibiotics, food packs, fruits and toiletries. This will be the 6th year of the media’s gift giving activity at the Mindanao Burn Center,” Joselle Badilla, over-all-coordinator of “Padyak Para Kay Boyd Para sa Burn Center” said.

Designated registration areas are 3MJ Cycle Buhangin, Bikerboy, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Mindanao Times, Bisikleta, Acer Davao Service Center-Ateneo Davao Bldg., and Norkis Agdao. Last day of registration is on December 13, 2013. On-site registration will start at 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. only. Ride will start at exactly 7:30 a.m.
