Boransing’s book recounts his ascent from Dean in 1973 to the end of his term as Vice President in 1988.

During the turnover ceremony, Boransing narrated briefly how he wrote the book.

Two copies of the manuscript including text in Boransing’s handwriting on loose pages were turned over.

Derogongan said she was delighted to receive on behalf of the department “a primary source” of the beginnings of MSU-IIT. She said local students and foreigners have visited the department library to do research on Mindanao studies.

She agreed that Boransing is often dubbed the ‘Father of IIT’, a moniker that resulted in his vision and mission to make IIT at par with leading universities in the country, in particular, the national university, the University of the Philippines.

During his stewardship as Vice Chancellor, Boransing made MSU-IIT financially independent.

He embarked on an extensive recruitment program for a quality faculty and to ensure the completion of the buildings for the CASS, the gymnasium, the College of Engineering and the College of Science & Mathematics. He also  supervised the plans for the construction of the College of Education which was completed during the term of his successor, Dr. Camar A. Umpa.

Boransing is a Certified Public Accountant who finished Accountancy at the  University of the East in Manila. He took his Masters degree in Business Administration at Melbourne University in Australia and a Masters in Business Economics at Reading University in the United Kingdom.

After he left IIT, Boransing became consultant on Community Relations and Development of Lake Lanao and Agus River projects at the National Power Corp.

Later, he became manager of these projects then went on to be Undersecretary of Education for Mindanao Affairs. (MindaNews)
