Named the Father of Mindanao Friendship Games, Ramirez, a native of Padada, Davao Del Sur, served for five years as commissioner before his appointment last year as chief of the national sports agency. He also once served as this city’s sports coordinator.
Karla Corcino, Gaisano South Ads and Promo in-charge said they have also invited PSC Commissioners Leo Gonzalo Montemayor, Ambrosio De Luna, Ritchie Garcia and Joey Mundo.
Earlier, tournament director Carl Lemuel Canete said in an interview that the opening ceremony will feature sexy star Maui Taylor.
Around 62 schools in Davao will compete in senior, junior, girls, cadets and mini divisions of six month-long tournament, regarded as the city's primary inter-school tournament.
Defending champion University of Mindanao Wildcats and Holy Child Reds remain the teams to beat in the senior and junior classes.
