1st Del Monte Food Service Fun Golf Tournament kicks

Gracing the tee-off rites were Del Monte Golf Club President Andre Jaranilla and Golf Chair Mike Comique, Del Monte Food Service Category Manager Angie Castillo and Big 8 Ventures, Inc. President Cesar Lapid.

Big 8 Ventures is Del Monte’s lone food service distributor in Cagayan de Oro and supplies Del Monte products to COHARA member-hotels and -restaurants and other dining establishments in the city.

Declared tourney winners were:  Men’s Division: Michael Lapid (Big 8 Ventures), champion; Baldwin Bacus (Bacus Fastfood), 1st runner-up; Arwin Kho (A.T. Kho Canteen), 2nd runner-up; Ladies Div.: Charmaine Gordiel (Country Village Hotel), champion; Choi Jang Hoon and Celine Menez (both of KORESCO Hotel), 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively; and Special Awardees Albert Bacus, Nearest the Pin; Alex Adeva (Calabria Coffee), Most “Exercise” Player; Arthur Daniel Mejia (Country Village Hotel), Nearest the Line; and Charmaine Gordiel, Longest Drive. Other competing golfers were from hotels Pearlmont, VIP, Middleton Apartelle and Chali Beach Resort; restaurants Bigby’s, Tres Marias, La Ilongga, Krua Thai and Crystal Sugar; and business partners Nestle Philippines, Dynamic Pharmacy, Pelicans, Diamond Tip Catering Services, Oroport Services and Plaza Fair.

Del Monte sponsored its first golf tourney for COHARA’s member-hoteliers and restaurateurs as a gesture of gratitude and support to leaders of the local food service industry who have helped build Del Monte’s food service business. For 10 years now, Del Monte has also actively participated in Kumbira, a showcase of Northern Mindanao’s culinary creativity, organized annually by COHARA on the occasion of Cagayan de Oro’s fiesta celebration.

At cooking demos and culinary contests in this year’s Kumbira Festival at the Limketkai Mall, Aug. 17-19, Del Monte’s culinary products – sauces, pasta and vinegar – and pineapple fruit and beverage products will be featured in ‘reengineered’ recipes. Amateur and professional bartenders will display their talents at the Del Monte Flairtending Exhibition and Bartending Competitions, Aug. 18 and 19. Their creative blends will also feature Del Monte’s latest party drinks Piña Colada and Piña Margarita and mixes – strawberry margarita syrup and red grenadine syrup. Joining the panel of judges are national bartending champions and finalists at this year’s ASEAN bartending competitions in Singapore Erwyn Unigo and Derick de Borja.
