UM rules Davao Champions? League elims

The Wildcats used a15 – 0 run midway of the pay off period to dispose the Crusaders and claim the right to represent Davao City in the Visayas-Mindanao elimination for the second time in four years.

Center / forward Edgar Awitin carried the load for the Wildcats canning 25 points, 15 of which came in the first twenty minutes of play that gave the defending champions a commanding 47 – 34 lead at the half. The former Duterte Agilas slotman was unstoppable from both ends of the floor for the Wildcats.

Robert Ryan Calimpong added 9 points, including a baseline three-pointer, that gave his team the biggest lead at 60 – 36 with less than three minutes left.

Former Agro shooting guard John Palomares and Alvin Calatayud chipped in 6 points apiece for the UM.

Forward Aldo Duran topscored for the Crusaders who struggled in their outside snipping while Fredyrem Recto, Karl Marx Villanueva and Kirk James Blanco had 6 points apiece for Holy Cross.(Rico Biliran/MindaNews)
