It was the first championship for coach Ramon Pido since he reassumed the head coaching chores last June. Pido replaced Jigger Saniel who was named trainer and assistant coach.
Kirk James Blanco and Fredyrem Recto added 19 and 11 points respectively for Holy Cross. Arnold Coli topscored for Cor Jesu with 16 points. Forward Cabandag had 15 markers for the losing team.
After taking a 23 – 19 lead at the end of the first canto, Holy Cross traded baskets with Cor Jesu in the second period. Holy Cross took a 44-39 advantage at the half.
Holy Cross defeated San Pedro College in the semi-final via default while Cor Jesu upset Ateneo De Davao University to arrange the final showdown.
