After dropping the front end of its twice to beat advantage, Holy Cross came out strong in the second game to clinch the title.
Holy Cross outplayed UM at all fronts as the lady crusaders extremely played hard both in offense and defense.
Former national training pool member Dolly Penaflorida, Carren Desierto and Annalyn Diaz led the charge for Holy Cross which also took a remarkable support from Aiza Armacion, Jasmine Burcelis, Shiela Traiga and Mykah Ramos.
The wards of coach Exequil Tomines showed their deadly form in the early going of the match, assaulting the small line up of UM with barrage of kills that cropped up from the marvelous setting of Elvie Mariquit.
“The players worked hard for the victory. They were very focused and their determination to win was very overwhelming,” said Abraham Verdeprado, Holy Cross sports coordinator.
The victory was the first title for Holy Cross after placing third in the recent National Private School Athletic Association (PRISAA) Meet last month in Ilo-ilo City .
Downed by two sets, the UM volleybelles set aside the pressure, converting several points in the early going of the third frame.
But Holy Cross showed excellent composure down the stretch to obtain the momentum and eventually take the winning set.
