More than 100 swimmers from various places in Mindanao will strut their stuff in the one-day swimming meet which features a total of 103 events for boys and girls.
The competition will be held in six age-group categories, namely, 15 years old and above, 13-14, 11-12, 9-10 years-old, 7-8 and 6 years old and above.
Chief organizer Darren Evangelista, president of Evangelista Aquatics, Inc., said graduates from different swimming clinics in Mindanao will compete in various categories and divisions.
“The competition is designed for swimmers who have not yet competed in any amateur swimming tournament, “ said Evangelista, a former swimmer himself.
He said the participants must not have competed in any amateur swimming competition in the past. But “novice participants in 2006-2007 can join the tournament”.
Swimmers from Cagayan De Oro City, Gen. Santos City, Koronadal City and Panabo City have already signified their participation in the meet approved by the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA), the governing body for the sport in the country.
Specially crafted medals await the winners in the tournament supported by Celine. The champion team and best coach will receive special awards.
International Swimming Federation and PASA rules and regulations will govern the meet.
