The golfest, which enjoys the support of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, is tentatively set Aug. 17 and 18 at the Apo Golf and Country Club.
The two-day tournament aims to raise fund for the benefit of the Gawad Kalinga Home Development Program which has been the main beneficiary of the golfest since it was organized a few years back.
Last year, the proceeds of the golfest was used to build more than 50 houses for the "poorest of the poor" residents of Davao City at Barangay Tibungco, some 18 kilometers northwest.
The organizers raised enough funds to put up 40 houses two years ago.
They had vowed to continue the development of the site which can accommodate 200 houses, a multipurpose area and a public elementary school that needs at least P2 million.
The golf for a cause is receiving overwhelming support from various groups and individuals in and outside the city.
