BUTUAN CITY (MindaNews / 7 Nov) – All is set for the Lanuza Surfing Festival and Agri-Aqua Tourism Trade Fair in the town of Lanuza, Surigao del Sur, on November 12 to 17.
The annual surfing open competition will have five divisions both for men and women.
Expected participants will come from surfing communities in Luzon and Visayas competing with the homegrown athletes of the coastal provinces of Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.
Surfers from abroad are expected to compete too.
Lanuza is one of the two surfing destinations of the region of Caraga, the other being General Luna in Siargao island.
An agri-aqua tourism trade fair will compliment the week-long surfing festival with a variety of business and merry-making activities like concerts and dance, wellness, coastal clean-up, a beauty contest, surf clinics and bingo.
The festival is hosted by the local government of Lanuza in partnership with the national government line agencies like the Department of Tourism and the Department of Agriculture and the Philippine Surfing Federation. (Ramon Jorge B. Sarabosing / MindaNews)
