SURIGAO CITY (MindaNews/25 July) –Lending support to abandoned kids, the Surigao Runners’ Club and fast-food chain McDonald’s will be hosting a run-for-a-cause this Sunday.
The run will benefit Charisma Bethel Children’s Home and other orphanage centers in the city, said lawyer Ingemar Macarine, the runners’ club president.
With four categories, the event dubbed as 1st McDonald’s Surigao Family Run is expected to draw runners from the cities of Surigao, Butuan, Cabadbaran and Bayugan for the 10-K, 5-K, 3-K and 1-K events.
Registration fee for 10-K is P450, P400 for the 5-K, P350 for the 3 K, and P300 for the 1-K, inclusive of race singlet.
The foot race will start at 5 a.m. from McDonald’s Surigao along Rizal Street going to Tumanday area in Barangay Rizal for the 10-K runners.
The run for the 5-K will start at 5:30 a.m., 6:00 a.m. for the 3-K and 6:30 a.m. for the 1-K (6-12 years old).
Ace Espejon, race director, said the top three finishers of each category will be given prizes.
He said the run will have male and female divisions as he urged the running community or fanatics to join this run-for-a-cause activity.
