DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/08 May) – Traditional powerhouse National Capital Region held on to its commanding lead in the medal count Friday in the Palarong Pambansa in Tagum City, Davao del Norte which concludes on Saturday, May 9.
Host Davao Region, which was aiming for a top five finish, only managed to climb a notch higher from its 10th place performance on Thursday, May 7.
As of 6p.m. Friday, May 8, the NCR contingent had earned 64 gold, 54 silver and 38 bronze medals.
Southern Tagalog-Calabarzon tailed NCR with 44 gold, 36 silver and 38 bronze medals.
Western Visayas was on third spot with a 34-38-32 medal performance.
Northern Mindanao improved from 8th place on May 7 to fifth on May 8. It had reaped 18 gold, 10 silver and 29 bronze medals to lead all Mindanao regions in the annual national games.
Socksargen region followed Northern Mindanao at eighth place with 10 gold, 19 silver and 18 silver medals.
Davao region climbed to 9th place with a 9-17-23 record.
The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao dropped to 14th place with three gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
Caraga region is on 15th place with two gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
