DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/03 May) – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will play for bronze in the elementary boys football competition of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa after bowing out Thursday night to a well-oiled Central Visayas team, 1-0.

They were scheduled to face Northern Mindanao Friday in the battle for third spot at the FIFA-certified football pitch of the Davao City (DC) – University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao Sports Complex.

The Central Visayas booters found the back of the net in the 20thminute, but that did not dampen the spirit of the yellow and green BARMM squad backed by loud “Go Bangsamoro!” cheers from their supporters who filled the stands of the DC–UP Mindanao Sports Complex.

BARMM relied on the speed of their midfielders to create scoring opportunities in the second half of the match. There was no doubt about the ball handling skills and offense of the Mindanawon team, but they did find difficulty in defending the Ilonggos who maximized the football pitch by masterfully playing wide in their attacks.

It will be an exciting all-Visayas finals with Central and Western Visayas teams battling for gold in the elementary and secondary football categories while National Capital Region will face CALABARZON for the bronze of the secondary division. (Manman Dejeto/MindaNews)
