ARLINGTON, TEXAS ( MindaNews/13 November) – While Mexican Antonio Margarito tipped the scale at the 150 pound catch weight yesterday, seven-division world title boxer Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao surprisingly weighed lighter than expected at 144 lbs.

Margarito was described as “dehydrated” and “shot,” Pacquiao, on the other hand, appears to look more dangerous.
Early on Wednesday, Pacquiao was saying he targets to settle in from 147 to 148 lbs when he enters the ring on Saturday at the Cowboys Dallas stadium. He said it’s an ideal weight to get to the speed he wants in his fight with Margarito.
Speed is Pacman’s antidote for Margarito’s height and reach advantage. Ending up much lighter than his target, Pacquiao may mean he’ll have more speed as well.
Margarito, on the other hand, debunked observations of him as having been weakened as a result of his efforts in losing more weight.
He reiterated he feels very strong, and is even aiming for a knockout.
“It’s ok, everything is alright now,” a calm and collected Pacquiao, also Sarangani’s representative to Congress, told MindaNews. He said he is just waiting for the time when he mixes it up with Margarito for the WBC super welterweight title fight.
He thanked everyone who wished him well, especially those who prayed for his victory in the ring.
Meanwhile, the evening prayers for Pacman’s victory was capped with a morning mass early Saturday at the Gaylord Texan hotel in Grapevine city, several hours before the fight.
Margarito assured Filipinos and the rest of his boxing fans worldwide that he will give the best fight of his life. (Merpu Roa/MindaNews)
