Kaharudin Talib was illegally arrested at a shopping mall in Bicutan last week. He was forced to admit that he is a member of JI operating in Mindanao linked with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Special Action Force tasked to put bombs in Metro Manila.
Abdul Basit, Talib’s brother said that Talib is innocent and could not been involve in plans to launch terror in Metro Manila. Proving that his brother is applying for abroad and while waiting in Manila he is making a living as a tricycle driver but the police insisted that he is a terrorist.
They presented Talib in the media last Monday without his lawyer which violated his Miranda Rights.
According to his lawyer Atty. Zainudin Malang, Talib was tortured while under detention in Camp Aguinaldo and was coerced to admit the bombings in Mindanao and his membership in JI.
The marks of torture is visible on Talib’s stomach as shown on television last night but Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales, Southern Police District director, denied accusations that Talib was tortures and forced by the police to confess to the terror plan.
The fear of the Moro People that the series of bombings of bus companies that might be used as an excuse to Moro men falsely accused as terrorists is now happening.
The bombings of bus companies was admitted by extortionists group Al-Kobar including the weena bus bombings last June 2007 but still the Arroyo administration declared the bombings as the works of terrorists and even inviting US soldier to investigate. Despite of the obvious admittance of the extortionists group they still pursue the terrorist angle.
This is the beginning of their arbitrary arrests against the Moro people after the Republic Act 9372 or the Human Security Act of 2007 has been implemented. The arrest of kaharudin Talib is their sample and a statement that they could do this to other Moro men simply by tagging them terrorists.
In Basilan, they issued warrants of arrest of the 127 men believed to be involved in July 10 attack including the 15 Muslim preachers they can arrest anybody anytime from now even their sources were not clear.
This is not new to the Moro people since President Arroyo’s assumed office in 2001 immediately she supported the US “war on terror” campaign and implemented numerous anti-terror policies.
Arroyo declared state of lawlessness in Basilan in 2001 and in 2003, the arbitrary arrests and detentions of the “bomb suspects” in Southern Mindanao which resulted to the arrest of more than hundred Moro men.
Kawagib Moro Human Rights calls on our Moro brothers and sisters to be more vigilant and to speak and stand for their rights as the Arroyo administration continue their attacks against our rights.
Kawagib urges the government to stop terrorist tagging of the Moro people and justice to those who falsely accused and their families!
