The 3-day training will be held in this city after the May 14 elections.
The training will be spearheaded by the Young Moro Professionals Council, the City Mayor’s Youth Affairs Development Office, and the Special Concerns and the Youth Affairs Divisions of the Office of the Provincial Governor of Sarangani.
Jocelyn B. Lambac, Community Affairs Officer III of Sarangani and the project’s point person, said that they have asked the Sangguniang Kabataan of the province, Yacap Foundation, Conrado Alcantara Foundation, and United Nations Development Program- ACT for Peace Program, to pool their resources for the project.
“Our prospective participants will become a ‘pool of trainers’ that can be tapped by the local government units and other peace advocate entities in spreading the ‘culture of peace’ in SOCSARGEN,” Lambac said.
“It is high time that we have more ‘Advocates of Peace’ in the region so that we will maintain harmony and understanding between the various tribes having different cultural practices and religious beliefs,” she stressed.
“It has been the thrust of the national and local government units to promote peace and development in our localities. And we can begin by planting the ‘Seed of Peace’ in the hearts of our youth,” she added.
The participants will undergo practicum by holding seminars among the youths in identified “peace and development communities” in the region.
