Ofelia Domingo, DOLE acting assistant regional director, said the department has modified its module in educating employers and companies about labor relations. "It's no longer more of labor rights and laws," she told MindaNews Friday in a phone interview.
The modified version would be launched on April 18, ahead of the commemoration of Labor Day on May 1. DOLE Assistant Sec. Theresa Soriano was expected to lead the launching rites, to represent Sec. Arturo Brion, who was the one who pushed for the new eduction model and its modified version for this year.
“It will be guides on labor relations, human resources, and productivity,” Domingo said.
The new model then for education that was introduced last year came in the wake of deliberations on the P125 across the board wage increase, which was not approved. It was also implemented when businessmen pushed for greater productivity than wage increase claiming that the latter was detrimental to business.
Also that year, the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) has insisted on sticking to the regional wage increase administered by the Regional Tripartite Wage Board (RTWPB). (Walter I. Balane / MindaNews)
