Danilo Supe, Provincial Planning and Development Officer, said the projects, which are part of the continuing Socsksargen Food Security Program, are set for implementation within the first two quarters of the year.
He said at least 80 percent of the funding requirement would be provided by DA while the local government unit will chip in 15 percent.
The National Irrigation Administration, which was chosen as the partner agency, will provide "in kind" the remaining 5 percent. The two projects set for the first quarter are the rehabilitation of Bo. 7 Communal Irrigation System (CIS) Dam in Koronadal City and the rehabilitation of the Banga CIS barangay Katipunan, which is located within the boundary of Sto. Nino and Norala towns.
The two irrigation projects cost P5.875 million and P3.75 million, respectively.
For the second quarter, the two other projects due for implementation are the rehabilitation of the Ala River Irrigation System (RIS) located in the municipalities of Banga, Sto. Nino and Norala and the completion of the training center/demo farm in Banga.
The Ala RIS rehabilitation costs P3.7 million while the training center/demo farm completion costs P3.4 million. The food security program is one of the flagship programs of the province, implemented through its Annual Investment Plan.
