The incident took the lives of nine people and wounded 34 other. The victims were on board an Isuzu Elf to attend the burial of their relatives in Barangay Santa Maria in Matalam when the tragedy took place.
Rev. Father Jun Balatero Jr. has also urged his parishioners to offer prayers for the family of the victims.
“My dear people of God, please offer prayers not only for those who have died in the vehicular accident, but let us include their families and those victims (who are) still in critical condition in hospitals,” the priest in his homily said.
Balatero said he also sent “sulat panawagan” to all parishes of the diocese of Kidapawan asking or financial and material assistance from generous individuals.
“Let the heart of being a “Pagkamangihatagon” (generous) touch our lives, and the Risen Christ will guide each one of us in giving especially for those who really need our help,” he said.
The priest said donations may be given directly to any parish priest or to the office of the diocese of Kidapawan in Barangay Balindog.
Meantime, the wake for the victims of the accident is being held at the San Vicente Ferrer chapel in Barangay Banayal, Tulunan, Cotabato.
Family and relatives have scheduled the mass burial for the victims next week in Barangay Banayal cemetery.
