Chief Supt. Joel Goltiao, PNP chief of the Autonomous Region in Muslim?Mindanao said four mortar rounds slammed into the town of Masiu just as soon the polling precincts opened at 7 a.m. today. He said nobody was hurt and elections pushed through in the town of Masiu,?birthplace of Islam in Lanao del Sur.
But violence marred the holding of elections in other towns of the province.
Goltiao said armed men on board vehicles strafed soldiers watching a polling?center in Pualas town, wounding one member of the 40th Infantry Battalion.
