Talacogon vice mayor-elect survives slay attempt

BUTUAN  CITY (MindaNews/22 May) — A former  police chair in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur who won the vice mayoralty race was shot by still unidentified armed men on a motorcycle Thursday  afternoon.

Talacogon Vice Mayor-elect  Rodolfo Bosque, 57 (Lakas-Kampi) was riding his motorcycle on the way home from Barangay Kauswagan when tailed by  two motorcycle-riding gunned men.

Witnesses said  Bosque stopped to wait for someone at the corner of  Labnig and Consuelo  when  shot at  around 4 p.m. by one of the motorcycle-riding gunmen.

Labnig is  located some two kilometers  away from the town  proper.

One of the witnesses who requested not to identified said the suspects fled towards Prosperidad  town.

Bosque sustained a gunshot wound at the back of his left shoulder. He was rushed to Talacogon Rural Health Unit then to Butuan City’s Doctors Hospital.

The day after, Bosque was transferred to Davao Doctors Hospital for possible surgical operation.

Police investigators found an empty shell of  caliber 9mm  pistol from the crime scene.  (Alden Pantaleon, Jr./MindaNews)
