KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/26 July) — A municipal councilor of Pikit, North Cotabato was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-riding men along the town’s highway, past 8 a.m. today.
Insp. Elias Dandan, police chief of Pikit, identified the victim as Councilor Husain ‘Boy’ Alba, a resident of Barangay Batulawan.
Dandan said the victim was driving his pickup vehicle towards the municipal hall to attend the flag ceremony when the gunman shot him, along the boundary of Poblacion and Batulawan.
Alba sustained three gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
He was rushed to the Cruzado Hospital, the nearest medical facility in Pikit, but he was declared dead on arrival by the hospital staff.
Dandan recovered from the crime scene three slugs of a caliber 45 pistol.
The police official said the killing could either be work-related or caused by personal grudges.
